Want to geek out on the stars with an expert? Here’s your chance!
On August 4, from 7 to 10:30pm, come experience the night sky and discover the vast expanse beyond our little planet with astronomers at Paramount Ranch. There will be telescopes directed at other planets and objects in the Milky Way.
We are partnering with the Ventura County Astronomical Society for this event and the night sky presentation will be given by Ashley Pipkin, a Natural Sound and Night Skies Biologist for the Pacific West Region of the National Park Service. She is responsible for synthesizing soundscape and photic data in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Her presentation will focus on ecological impacts of light pollution on humans and wildlife.
There will also be fun, educational activities for the kiddos and they will also get the opportunity to become Junior Rangers!
Bring a red lens flashlight to help preserve our night vision throughout the event.
