Introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
Friday, August 17, before services, 6:45-7:45pm
No charge — just come!
Fill your plate with food from the potluck, and join us to gain some tips about listening and speaking in ways you can feel great about, whether at home or out in the world. NVC is about being empowered to share our truths in ways that will resonate with others, and it’s about being empathic even with people whom we find challenging. At home, where we sometimes feel alienated or distant from the people we love the most, NVC helps gives specific, do-able tools to help us understand our own and other peoples’ reactions and to repair disconnections. Before services, we’ll have a fun, interactive workshop to practice some of the key principles of this work.
We are in this together — moving through conflict with calm, clarity, and grace

Human beings get into conflict. But far from what our current political discourse suggests, conflict does not have to result in there being winners and losers. Conflict can, on the contrary, lead to deeper understanding, to better collaboration, and to everyone getting more of what they want and need. Specific skills — for listening fully and speaking in ways that are most likely to be heard — can make a huge difference in how conflict plays out. In this workshop, we’ll practice skills for staying connected across all kinds of differences, both at home and out in the world.
